hello! This is Kim dropping by from Japanese class.. I think this is a great idea and I will help with what I can. First I have to learn how to type with Japanese characters..
こんばんわ
こんばんは
Hey Kim!
Thanks for dropping by…
We could use some help. First let me start with my latest discovery. The difference between a blog and a website is that you can only make current posts to the front page (or explained another way – only one page of a blog… please see main page as I want the other members to read this as well…
Thanks… and second, please create your own wordpress account. After that I need your user name and email so I can add you to Japan In Toronto… but don’t do that here. You’ll have to get my personal email which I don’t want to publicize here… hmmm I’m thinking how to do that. I should have gotten it from you in class! LOL! Just go ahead and create the wordpress account for yourself (go to wordpress.com) and we’ll worry about the rest later. If I can’t get you in before next Saturday, then we can do it AFTER next Saturday when I see you! Thanks again Kim
I’m looking for accessories for a miniature Japanese dish garden–lantern, water basin, teahouse etc. Is there a store in Toronto? Thank you.
Does anyone know where I can learn the Japanese art of Goyataku?
If you used to live in Japan, my new LetsJapan blog about Japan invites you to submit a comment about what you miss about Japan. Include your blog link if you desire. Thanks. Mark
Missed List
My name is Mark, I am 43 years young, 5′10″, height/weight proportionate (muscular body type), with blue eyes, dirty-blond hair, and European background. I live in Mississauga, but I work in Toronto.
I am very open-minded, well-groomed, professionally employed, not judgmental, extremely clean & healthy, with a great sense of humour. I am very interested in Japanese culture, and therefore, I am looking for an on-going but casual, mutually satisfying and consensual friendship, based on trust and understanding, with a Japanese female friend who would like to share her Japanese cultural background.
My husband and I are expert English teachers, backpackers and ecological-gardeners. We are living in the West Eglington area of Toronto.
At present we are growing almost all of our own produce at our home. We practice yoga and are learning to be postural therapists. in addition I am now studying the Indian science of Ayurveda.
We would love to offer English lessons to any serious students who are in Toronto. Please contact us as we are very willing to negotiate.

Hi everyone,
I would like to offer you a chance to participate in the clinical trial. You will be compensated for your participation. We are looking for 1st – 2nd generation of Japanese population, which is very hard to recruit for. If you are interested please, message me, and I will provide you with more information.
Our website is http://www.biopharmaservices.ca.
I could not find how to submit an event and I thought some of your readers might be interested in our upcoming concert which is also our final concert of this season. It is entitled “Tranquil Energy,” and features music by W.A. Mozart, Franz Schubert, and perhaps the most well known of Canadian composers, the great R. Murray Schafer. We have some very special guests for this concert, including the Seiler String Quartet, cellist Rachel Mercer, along with Tai Chi performers whose visually stunning movements will complement the music of R. Murray Schafer. The Seiler String Quartet are four sisters from German/Japanese descent who have been performing together since they were three years old. Mayumi Seiler and Midori Seiler, violinists, Yuri Seiler, cellist and Naomi Seiler, viola, will be reuniting on the Via Salzburg Chamber Orchestra’s stage for this intimate evening of music. The concerts take place June 4/5 at 8:00 pm at the Glenn Gould Studio, 250 Front Street West, Toronto, Ontario. Tickets can be purchased through http://www.roythomson.com.
I just want to know where all the japanese people are in toronto, like is there a little japan in toronto somwhere?
I just want to know where all the japanese people are in toronto, like is there a little japan in toronto somewhere??
Hi Andrew….
Try Japanada… coffee house get–together on Tuesday nights… I’ve posted about it before… do a search on the main page for it.
There is also Ichimokukai which takes place on the first Thursday evening of every month. It’’s run by Jeff Harju. (do a search for it or look in the blog roll for him)
Every Saturday afternoon there is a language exchange at U of T… ask me if you want the details.
The is a small area known as Little Japan… but its not bit… up near Yonge & Finch. I believe there is a map from a previous post on there as well.
Or
Try going into Sanko on Queen Street West… they are a Japanese run shop… they have been there for years and might have some info you are looking for.
Hi, I’m Yuki.
I live in Japan, and am going to visit Toronto.
So, I want to know about “a language exchange at U of T”…said by cammomile on June 26, 2009.
Can an outsider, like me, enter there?? Is going there only once or two time is OK?? Where and when is it held??
Please tell me if you know.
Hi Yuki…. yes, you can go to the language exchange at the U of T. I think a membership for one year costs $13 or $14. You can also pay per visit. It is held at the university on Saturday afternoons from 2:30pm to 5pm.
There is also another language exchange event held on Tuesday evenings at Urbana Coffee on Bay St 8pm – 10pm.
